President Obama has declared a major disaster after recent floods in Virginia. Heavily affected counties include Nicholas, Greenbrier, and Kanawha. A State of Emergency has been declared in 44 of the West Virginia’s 55 counties in the past few days.

Flood damage is not covered by most property insurance policies. Flood coverage can be found through separate endorsements or policies available through the National Flood Insurance Program.
