The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey recently invited Jeff Shaw to participate in their symposium on "The Latent Effects of Salt Water Flooding on Critical Infrastructure: Prospects for Long‐Term Recovery." The discussions during this symposium focused on Hurricane Sandy's tidal surge, which resulted in salt water intrusion and inundation throughout the infrastructure of the New York/New Jersey region. Shaw, as Vice President of Adjusters International, has seen these damages first hand in his work over the past 18 months with the Port Authority. During the discussion, Shaw shared his experiences in how to best present the financial costs of repairing, replacing, and/or mitigating damages or suspected damages.
Shaw's relationship with the key note speakers from the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans, who AI represented following Hurricane Katrina, allowed for a collaborative description of strategies and tactics for seeking the maximum reimbursement available for related costs.
