Jeff Shaw, Vice President of Adjusters International, will be one of many speakers at this year's Chatham County Emergency Management Conference on May 1st. Held in Savannah, Georgia, this one-day conference is to focus on preparedness, response and recovery in the event of a hurricane. Shaw will be speaking on "The Ins and Outs of Public Assistance," giving an overview of how the FEMA Public Assistance Program can be applied by local governments in the wake of a hurricane.
Over the past month, Adjusters International's Director of Integrated Services Peter Potemkin has been active speaking about disaster recovery at engagements across the country. On April 19th, Potemkin presented on how "Leadership Matters in Disaster Recovery" as the opening speaker at the Annual Conference of the Virginia State Chapter of the Public Risk Management Association (PRIMA) in Roanoke, VA. On April 5th, Potemkin spoke to attendees of the Texas Emergency Management conference about "FEMA Hazard Mitigation Funding - Program Update," with a focus on various hazard mitigation programs administered by FEMA, that provide funding for hardening facilities and communities from repetitive damage. At the Florida Emergency Management Conference, on March 26th, Potemkin also presented in a panel discussion that addressed FEMA cost estimating, recent policy issues, and the integration of FEMA Public Assistance and property insurance claims.
